Last January 22-24, one of the trainers and strength & conditioning experts of Bridge Athletic, Andrew Nguyen, held a seminar for our CAL swimmers & coaches to help gain a better understanding of connecting our minds and bodies through land exercises and applying them in the water to be able to swim better and faster (BridgeSwimming – building better athletes).
The SEA AGE Swimming championship is always a memorable affair. This year’s competition is definitely one for the books, especially for our CAL age group qualifiers. The CAL group of swimmers who joined this competition were a mix of leaders (Raine Gavino & Jeremy Lim), veterans (Kirsten Chloe Daos, Courtney Melissa Gray, Ianiko Limfilipino & Phillip Joaquin Santos), and newbies (Rafael Barreto, Dara Nichelle Carreon, Patrick Galvez, Andrea Ngui & Keane Cedric Ting).
A handful of the junior CAL tankers travelled to Cebu city for the 2015 Batang Pinoy Nationals last November 27-29 and brought pride to their respective cities with numerous medal winning performances and record breaking swims.
12 year old superstar, Miguel Barreto, took the meet by storm, winning 5 out of 5 individual events including a record breaking 4:46.21 in the 400m freestyle. The older Barreto, Rafael, continues his record breaking streak with a newly set 25.42 in the 13-15 50m Freestyle. This comes with 3 other gold medals in the 50m & 100m Butterfly and 100m Freestyle.
Last October 22-25, our CAL Swim School tankers have delivered A+ performances and not only brought points for their respective schools, but promoted the highest level of sportsmanship amongst each other despite representing different alma maters at the 78th UAAP Swimming Championships in Rizal Memorial Stadium.
